By accessing or using LitRev ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time; continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
2. Description of Service
LitRev is a software-as-a-service platform designed to assist researchers in conducting systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and related evidence synthesis. The Service uses artificial intelligence to screen citations, extract data, and support risk-of-bias assessment. LitRev does not replace human judgment; it is a tool to accelerate and support your research workflow.
3. User Accounts
You must create an account to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when registering and to update it as needed. You must be at least 18 years old or have appropriate institutional authorization to use the Service.
4. Subscription and Payments
LitRev offers free and paid subscription tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. You may cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are provided at our discretion. We use Stripe for payment processing; by subscribing, you agree to Stripe's terms and conditions.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You may not: (a) use the Service to process data you do not have the right to use; (b) attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service; (c) overload or disrupt the Service; (d) use the Service to build a competing product; or (e) violate any applicable laws or regulations. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these provisions.
6. Data and Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. We process your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws. We do not use your research data to train our AI models. You retain ownership of your data; we process it solely to provide the Service.
7. Intellectual Property
LitRev and its content, features, and functionality (excluding user content) are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission. You retain ownership of content you upload; by using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process that content to provide the Service.
8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI outputs will be accurate or complete. AI-assisted screening and extraction are tools to support your work; you remain responsible for the quality and validity of your research. The Service is not a substitute for professional judgment.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LITREV AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations; in such cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason. You may terminate your account at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may retain your data for a reasonable period as described in our Privacy Policy.
